Peebles: Part 3 of 4

Memorial Garden and Close. All photograph's in this series were taken by Lynda Braithwaite.

The War Memorial. was unveiled by Earl Haig in October 1922. See photo below.
A War memorial with a 'wow factor.' Stunning.  Not surprisingly described as one of the most beautiful War Memorials in Scotland, it commemorates not just those from Peebles, but from the wider County of Peebleshire. The plaques either side of the alcove are for World War Two.
The Tontine Hotel, dating from 1808, was built and funded by public subscription. See photo's below.

Outside the Tontine Hotel. Originally a drinking fountain, dedicated to Professor John Veitch, a Professor of Logic at Glasgow University.
The Crown Hotel dates back to the early 1600s. It is owned by a third generation of the Cassidy family.
A Sundial.
An unusual designed seat.
Local Peebles town bus service.
